I have hilariously awful nightmares. They are of varying subject matter and duration. I used to have much worse ones when I was in organ donation, organ donors coming to life on the operating table etc. I had a killer one where I was on staff of a hospital that was storing dead people in their walls. I was walking down the hall and dead, bloody corpses starting pushing through the plaster in the walls like it was latex. Bogus! I also have dreams where a gigantic fucking spider or something similar comes flying at me and I wake with a start. I hate those ones I also have the occasional teeth falling out, limbs falling off, onoes I didn’t study for this class sorts of dreams, which seem to me to be pretty strongly tied to anxiety. Ooh, I often have awesome ones where my car brakes don’t work, or I am driving up a hill that’s so steep, my car flips over backwards.

I don't think I've had a nightmare since January. I miss my nightmares and spooky scary dreams because they are interesting, memorable, and immersive. Most immersive would be first-person silent hill in a pitch-black mall with flesh tunnels as I could really feel the fear as I progressed and that was delectable. Most interesting would be the one where I was in an alternate universe with deadly gameshows and meatgrinders everywhere in a death-fueled post-nuclear hellscape with its own radioactive abominations. There are of course the odd dreams with shadow people. I've noted that they show up sometimes if I've been in a real foul mood, as if they are attracted to my misery. The dreams that end in a random jumpscare are the odd surprise too of course. I've become fond of the sensations that tingle in my head when experiencing these spooky escapades.
More normal nightmares would be the ones where I'm back in school and didn't do any homework all year before the semester's over and they are the worst. It's a great relief to wake up and remember that I'm not there anymore. Falling teeth dreams also suck, yeah.

Does playing Doom count as a nightmare?

Most dreams that I have (or at least ones I remember) are nightmares. Some are explained by sleeping conditions (someone is kicking me in the balls -> underwear is too tight; something is strangling me -> not enough fresh air in the room). Others are clearly related to stressful events I've experienced in the past (missing a train -> I had to ride those a lot in childhood and we were often late due to my father being a disorganized mess; having to go back to school and take exams again -> self-explanatory, I think everyone was traumatised by education to some extent). Then there are those where my insecurities manifest themselves in an exaggerated way (finding myself in the subway with no pants on -> general fear of being watched and judged; police and citizens alike chasing me -> constant feeling of guilt, suspicion that I've done or said something wrong).
It's thanks to this logical nature of my nightmares that I don't mind them so much and even appreciate them to an extent: they can be a valuable tool for analysis of your weaknesses, Freud was right on the money here. Some can be a lot trickier to decipher, but it's pretty rare for me to get a complete mindfuck dream that just makes me question my own sanity. I think I would hate it if most of my nightmares had no clear relation to my life.

Nope. Barely ever remember my dreams, and it’s been that way my whole life. I can remember maybe having one or two nightmares over the years, but I certainly never woke up screaming. That sounds like night terrors.

I had a nightmare where there was Doom wad with dehacked I had to play inside reality (as opposed to on a computer), dehacked couldn't lift the full scope of modifications so there was some real-life acting on behalf of wad creators to make up for things dehacked couldn't do. Unfortunately, I can't even remember what the fuck happened there, but eventually staff got into some argument, and I couldn't get inside a wad anymore, and the dream about Doom gave way to some banal shit about getting a call from bank that turned to be a fraud, so I silenced the phone after hanging up but then I realized I have an important alarm set to wake me up from this shit, and that I am not going to hear it now with the phone silenced, so I woke up for real and checked the time and the alarm on real life phone. It was 5:15 and alarms were set (I need several because this house is quiet as dead on weekend), and the phone was not silenced, so I went back to sleep and woke by alarm. I think I saw another nightmare because I was relieved to hear an alarm and wake up.

Oh yeah I have nightmares every so often, and usually they're pretty vivid. Especially the ones that make me wake in a cold sweat. A few weeks ago I had a dream where I finally got a date with a girl I have a crush on at work and was waiting for her to get off (which took six hours) in some warped version of the store we work at, then just before she clocks out she starts unloading boxes which were apparently satanic and the sky turns dark blue and apparently summoned a cult. When she and I finally go on a date we're sitting at a table that looks like the dining room of grandmother's house and she starts locking up in shock as skinless corpses try to attack her, cultists trying to kidnap her, and I'm trying desperately to protect her. My dream ends with us two climbing on top of a bricked building in the middle of a city, trying to get away from said cult and one of us falls off straight down into an alley.
This is one of the more tamer ones. I had a more recent one but I can't remember enough to details to describe it, all I can remember was some of the imagery.

I sometimes have bad dreams, typically they are related to reenacting some extremely embarassing moments of my life or family members dying in some fashion... but if dreams get too unpleasant I just wake up instead of trying to press alt+f4 on a pillow to terminate it like I did when I was a kid. However, I also have a problem of waking myself up during the good ones purely out of paranoid feeling of sleeping through alarm.

I remember I had a nightmare I was in a BDSM dungeon and had some dominatrixes kicking my dick, and since I was not into BDSM, I woke up because of it and realized I was just sleeping on my thumb with my thigh and it was hurting.
