I played Rambo:First Blood on the C64 but the pixelated blood left me so traumatised I could never watch any of the movies.

My older brothers were really into action movies and Rambo was always one of those movies referenced with anything involving an indestructible muscle guy with guns. I've never seen any of them up until a few years ago when I decided to watch them from the beginning starting from the first one. Maybe my brothers were too young and naive to get it at the time but the first movie is pretty dark and from what I know from film references, I'm kinda perturbed about the direction the franchise goes in and never bothered with the rest.

From a "film" perspective, the best Rambo movie is First Blood, based on the 1972 novel by David Morrell. The acting is really good, the story is gripping, and the characters are multi-dimensional and interesting. In terms of sheer brutality and violence, the newest two films, Rambo(4) and Last Blood(5) are the winners. First Blood Part 2 is the cheesiest of the series and the female lead's attempt to imitate an Asian accent is cringe-worthy, but obviously I still enjoy it. Rambo 3 is underrated in my opinion and is somewhat of a middle ground between the ridiculousness of Part 2 and the serious and more realistic nature of First Blood.

imo Rambo 3 is so over the top, even more so than Over The Top. just utter hilarity, in the way of American Gladiators, Red Dawn, Black Rain, and Tequila Sunrise, 80s excess and stereotype is very entertaining for me. speaking of i think i'm gonna rewatch Tango & Cash. this game looks badass! Lobo

just rewatched Rambo 2, half-watched, really cause it's so crap. rambo's a total queen, the pacing is garbage, the story is ridiculous and ham fisted and uninteresting - Rambo 2's like a bad alex jones episode.
maybe gonna try the newest and last one tonight. well, that or the last mission impossible movie.

I never watched the first one. 2 and 3 were OK, but not the best of the 80s action movies. I appreciate 4 for having the balls of displaying ridiculous amounts of gore in a mainstream movie

The first Rambo movie was my personal favorite. I didn’t really care for the others, especially the last one.
