Ok so, I love Dig Dug, it was actually the first thing I ever bought online (ebay) back in 1999, before I even had a computer or internet. I bought Dig Dug complete in box for Atari 7800. so I've got a long and storied history of pumping and exploding. now that my dig dug creds are known, I've been thinking about a Dig Dug Doom TC for a few weeks now and honestly think it could be fun. it would probably be something like 10 levels.
and the only thing I'm really concerned about is the gameplay in Dig Dug has enemies going through walls to get at you. this is the one big problem I see. so, what I want to know is, would it even be possible to make a Doom entity go through walls like they do in Dig Dug?

Sounds like a cool idea. I’m a big arcade fan my self and Dig Dug was definitely one of my favorites.
It may be possible to script the Doom enemies to walkthrough walls. How to do so? Not sure.... but if the original Doom engine allowed for IDCLIP then I would assume it’s possible to enable enemies to walk through walls.

assuming I'm remembering Dig Dug correctly, wouldn't it be harder to get the player digging action right?
Anyway even Dehacked allows noclipping enemies although I've forgotten the name of the flag. Should be easy with ZDoom.

There was that wad in recent years that the name escapes me where you “dug” through certain walls, I vaguely remember a shovel “weapon” in this one. Also there's Licence to Spell Doom from the 2002 where you chainsawed thru certain walls in the first map, so it’s definitely feasible. Maybe somebody else can name the first wad mentioned for you to take a look at.

I can't even imagine how this would be in Doom: what are the mechanics/map layout you have in mind? Can't envision it at all.
