www.businessinsider.com.au/sweden-coronavirus-per-capita-death-rate-among-highest-2020-5?r=US&IR=TSweden decided not to go into lockdown, unlike many of it's neighboring countries. You know what happened? They got way fucking sicker than everyone else. Well, at least it helped keep their economy afloat... Right? www.businessinsider.com.au/sweden-economy-likely-wont-benefit-from-decision-avoid-lockdown-report-2020-5?r=US&IR=TNo, it didn't. So their economy still got just as fucked up as it would have anyway - once again, comparable to the economy neighboring countries are experiencing right now - but they're also sick as fuck and super diseased compared to their neighbors. That sounds like a colossal fuck-up that's cost a lot of people not just their livelihood, but their lives. I'm not going to talk shit and act like the economy doesn't matter at all, but all the little slugs going back to their factory jobs and spreading a bunch of disease to eachother just so the gears can keep on turning didn't help shit. It just made them sick AND economically depressed.

Sweden decided not to go into lockdown, unlike many of it's neighboring countries. You know what happened? They got way fucking sicker than everyone else. Fuck, it is really good you digged up that. When it is just started, I contemplated whether Sweden was smarter than the rest of us, but now I see it was not. I forgot to check it up after months passed. There you go, we finally have the facts that back up the lockdown decision made in various countries. Shit IS serious, after all.

The lockdown was good, and necessary, but it can't go on forever. In my country, we had a lockdown and we are slowly reopening and the number of new cases hasn't skyrocketed, at least not yet. We are even reopening gyms on the 1st of June.
You gotta be smart about this, no lockdown at all is just as bad as lockdown until there are absolutely no more cases. Even the politicians in my country know this. If too many people die, they will have no one to steal from. Same if they are all unemployed.

I do definitely agree that we need to consider slowly but surely reopening, but doing it too fast could result in thousands of deaths.. It's a tough nut to crack for sure. There's no easy answer, but one thing I know for certain is that if we go back to "as it was before" now, that's going to be too fast and we're gonna have a death toll as a result.

Well, it might not be the same for all countries. People were patient but their patience (and wallets) have run dry. They must get back to work or they and their children and grandkids might suffer the consequences. Even people who work from home are suffering because of the domino effect. I have a friend who is a freelancer and he lost a bunch of contracts because the company he works for is losing money. It it goes on like this, he might not have any work left. Again, most people will be fine. It's not Ebola. And if I was an 80 year old person then I would prefer to live my last years with dignity, not in constant fear, not that they didn't have a good reason to respect quarantine in the crucial first months.

I like how all of a sudden nobody in the US gives a shit about COVID lmao. It’s safe to say the mass protests and riots currently ongoing in over 200 US cities drop kicks social distancing. BTFO.

Yes, but (a) London is cancer and can rot in piss, and (b) we haven't burnt down all our fucking pharmacies.

They are protesting police murders, yet are effectively spreading a deadly virus among themselves, and those around them. Often I hear it disproportionally affects minority, especially black communities the worst.

Often I hear it disproportionally affects minority, especially black communities the worst. In fact, the rioters are burning down pharmacies in black and brown communities: www.startribune.com/riots-arson-leave-minnesota-communities-of-color-devastated/570921492/The news reports previously said the reason why they are so hard hit by the virus, is due to a lack of access to health services. So they are further worsening that issue, by burning down their pharmacies.

Doomkid So I guess you think people protesting not being able to work and thus potentially ending up on the street are "freedumb" but people burning and pillaging are "fighting the system". Am I getting this right?

If rioters get corona and die then so be it. Good fucking riddance to burners and looters. That's what you get for not acting like a civilized person.
