I wish I could win the lottery.
The downside of vacation is that you really see the contrast of life when it is over.

I dunno, I think getting millions of dollars for nothing could result in a few weeks/months of enjoyable hedonistic life, but after that you would probably start to seriously question the purpose of your existence. I feel like it's in our nature to work hard in order to get results, and if you just skip the work part your whole reward system will collapse and lead you to some very dark places. Or at least that's what I usually tell myself when I hear about people winning the lottery.

"Reward system?" Dude, capitalism has trained us like lab rats. Push a button and get food / electrocuted (delete as applicable).
I think society as a whole has developed Stockholm syndrome. We've got a really shitty relationship with money, one that only seems to benefit the psychopathic individuals and immoral institutions that are in charge of said money.

This is true.
But if I won, say, half-a-billion dollars, I would probably use it to work on stuff that I personally found to be important. Perhaps I would fund the arts, scientific, and medical research.
I think about the important and meaningful work that some people in the world do, that better humanity, instead of the boring shit I have to do. Or about how I wish I could have had the opportunity to advance my degree, without the soul crushing debt that would come with it.
I think that's why so many of us like to talk about stuff like politics, world events, and stuff we have little influence over, because we wish we could be a part of it.
It sucks having a boss(s), and to be beholden. Especially when they are clearly dumber than you, and are only more fortunate.

I would also enjoy myself for sure though, and have multiple homes in exotic locations. Enjoy fine dining, attend lectures, and blaze a lot.

I’m not greedy, just a cool mil would set me up with a comfortable living wage on interest alone.

You can wish all you want but it ain't gonna happen unless you actually buy a lottery ticket. You can't win the lottery without the lottery ticket!

That’s a good point Cupp, I knew I was missing something My wife likes to say people like us don’t win the lottery so don’t even bother heh... There’s a point in that as I’ve known of people who continually win things like radio competitions, raffles and some who have won holidays on those TV game shows. There’s a kind of luck about it indeed. Finding a decent place to work and decent people to work with is a kind of luck in itself, no matter how qualified you are for a job. You can spend years trying to find a good fit, and maybe never find it, so although work surely sucks, it can always be worse.

I would also enjoy myself for sure though, and have multiple homes in exotic locations. Enjoy fine dining, attend lectures, and blaze a lot. Notch has sold minecraft for two billion dollars and last time he was feeling depressed, while being in a villa in California. I don't think I could handle such money. Especially all in a sudden. If it happens, I'd rather wish for the gradual slow success than instant success. About work, I have accepted that and I am relatively content with what I am doing. There is always this feeling of course that some mornings I'd rather stay in my bed that have to go to work that day I don't feel much about it. The thought came to my mind, what if I worked on something fully on my own like some indie gamedev project or something, but it's a risky thing and currently something I want to start doing in parallel (much harder because you come back from work and there are few hours left for other things). The advance would be that I would be the boss of myself, but I realize I am too lazy when working on personal hobby projects, even when I was unemployed and had the whole day in front of me. It's an idea, and even that if becoming a job could not be as fun as now, you'd be the boss of your project of your dreams, but I hear stories from indie gamedevs that it's not so glamorous as it sounds, when you have to overwork and you might not even know if you will have to pay the rent. Society without workers also wouldn't function. You'd think it would be great if they gave the riches to every person and everybody was free, but then every person would just enjoy the riches, but who is gonna work so that we continue having electricity, water, food, internet?
