Fuck the PC Master Race for a minute, here. Undoubtedly, the best gameplay experiences that ever happened took place on consoles, no doubt. Whether it was finally beating Castlevania, or looking at another dude's screen to kill him on split-screen goldeneye 007, fucking your friends day up in Street Fighter 2 after he said he could kick your ass, getting that interception in madden, or dominating everyone with red shells in mario kart.
Consoles made for some of the most rewarding single player experiences (even if you just got a 10 second cutscene and some pixelated text to read) as well as some of the most incredible multiplayer jams of all time. All of my favorite memories in gaming almost always took place wearing basketball shorts, sitting on the couch or a beanbag chair, with a controller in hand and in front of a CRT television. I don't care that PC's will always be better. Those memories are irreplacable.
I remember one time my brother and I were playing Tony Hawk Underground on Playstation 2 against each other. We were doing a trick attack session at New Jersey and the timer ran out, so we had to keep our combo going to ride out the clock. We were up to a half million points with our combos, and our multipliers were only coming in 0.5 increments now. After what felt like a half hour of grinding powerlines and riding out our flatland tricks, we crossed paths on a handrail and I knocked him over, forfeiting ALL OF HIS POINTS! He was SOOOOOOOOOOOO mad and tried to slap the controller out of my hands! I just jumped off and landed on the sidewalk to collect all my points and crushed him by over 750,000 points. Goddamn that was fun.
