I have a giant cardboard box filled with stacks of CDs in their original cases. As much as I appreciate being able to stream full albums through youtube, I just like the completeness of having the physical CDs and the album art in my collection. I used to get all my CDs through amazon because you could get used CDs from obscure metal bands for next to nothing. I stopped doing it for a number of years but I'm thinking about getting back into it because I want new music but I don't know if I want to continue adding more to my already huge collection.

I think the last time I bought a CD was 2011.

I one of the weird outliers that doesn't care about music. I'll hear a song I like here or there, but have no desire to purchase or listen to music as a hobby or anything.

Music in physical format will always be superior to digital distribution for me. I'll keep buying CDs as long as it'll still be possible.

I love physical media and I collect CDs, records and cassettes. It's much more appealing to me to have a copy that you can touch with your hands, and not some letters on the screen which can play music when clicked on.

Having a cd, cassette (I'm one of those hipsters that still buys death metal cassettes, haha) or vinyl playing will always make a music experience more intimate... it's the difference between walking into a room that's lit by a sun setting or that's lit by one of those bright white unnatural lights.. it's just more wholesome! Also, having a 1500+ album collection looks comfy and intimate when it's shelved in your own unique way.. the album you're playing feels like it's "yours". It's also nice not being a freeloader.

Ya nailed it, got nothing else to add there. Besides, the audio quality is apparently lower when playing from a PC, unless you have a dedicated sound card, which most people, myself included, don't, and likely never will either. So it's not just preferring physical over digital, there are some technical differences as well. If I want music I'll damn sure get a player instead. My current player is actually 20yrs old but it was rarely used, so it performs just like a brand new one. It was mostly used for playing cassettes in the past, but the CD player was almost never used. It also includes a radio but that's not been used for many years, and it's able to play those vinyl CD thingies as well, something I accidentally found out when I bought Vobiscum Satanas. I'm basically the only person in the house who's using it nowadays since I'm the only one who buys everything (music, games, etc.). My mother has no problem with me buying music anymore as she had back when I first started, but dad still thinks it's just an immense waste of money "because you can download it for free or listen on YT" rofl, as if it'd be the same thing. Hey, what would you expect from someone who's mindset is that of a pirate... Oh, and who still thinks, or maybe used to as of late, that "I'm buying what's popular". Yeah, another retarded statement since I'm also buying stuff released by bands who have disbanded for years or decades, such as Bathory or Baphomet. Seriously now ffs, does anyone besides posers listen to or buy "extreme" stuff like it's the next big trend? Or "what am I going to do with them later in life." Ugh, I'm not going to continue since you can predict what I'm going to say and there's no point... That's one huge collection though, easily puts my modest, 40 something albums collection to shame , but then I'm only buying music for a few years now, and am not rich to do it more often (or simply have a job).

I have about three CD cases stock full of CDs, about 90 or so of them, all music ones too. I brought along 7 or so of my more recent purchases when I moved to Reston, but I might just bring them back to my old home since I barely have any space over here since my roommate takes up most of it. I have about 120 CDs in total.
