I hate my PS4. It's basically a shitty PC with a shitty operating system that you operate with a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse. It's the most pointless machine i ever wasted my money on.
I don't know why consoles have to try and compete with PC's instead of just doing their own thing, but because they are, they're fighting a battle they're never gonna win. I think consoles will be dead by the next decade.

Oh, I very much doubt they will for a very simple reason: Not all gamers can afford (or are willing) spending around 1000$ on a high end gaming rig.
I personally don't have that kind of money (well, ok, I'm also unemployed but I'm not sure I'd be willing to do it even if I had a job), so I'd much rather get a console instead and until the next gen drops I'm guaranteed to be able to play all titles released on it without having to worry about system requirements and other technical aspects. For me this is one of the main reasons I doubt they'll disappear anytime soon. And besides, there's enough people who simply like playing on a console for whatever reason they have.

I think consoles will be dead by the next decade. Wasn't the whole reason you bought it was an alternative to spending money upgrading your PC to play the new Doom? Well there you go. Consoles aren't going anywhere for that and the reasons agent6 said too. People want something easy they can rely on. I have a couple friends who are console gamers because they know dick about computers. If they were to run into a crash or hardware issue they'd have no idea or patience to fix it. The other reason is they were always console gamers. They had them as kids. You rarely see someone go out and buy one who'd never owned a system in the past. In fact I'm not even a gamer but the idea is appealing to me to just throw in a disc and be playing, instead of fucking around with drivers or my shitty old computer. Console exclusives are a big draw and you don't get those kinds of games on PC, really. Show me anything that looks/plays like that new God of War for instance.
