Tell me all about your norwegian new-wave funkbeat technical death polka
I'm interested in being either shocked or amazed.

Folk Thrash Metal! I really love this band. They evolved from the NWOBHM scene (Satan '83 members) and fused with Thrash Metal (Sabbat '89 members). Plus added violins into the mix:
Technical Black/Thrash/Power Metal! Very interesting group:
War Metal! A combination of Death Metal and Black Metal. Also, includes the coming of Beelzebub himself to desecrate the earth and plunge back humanity into darkness for one last (final) time:

The riffs here sound like they were written not only backwards, but upside down.. and yet it flows so smoothly.

How about silencecore. The idea is that there is no music at all: all tracks are silent. However, they all have titles, different lengths, there can be an album artwork, etc, and that's where meaning comes from. Based on all that information you can try to imagine what kind of music it could have been, maybe even think about the themes and so on. I've seen like two or three people working in the genre.

The only obscure kind of music I can think of is this band that RUSH showed me called Comus.
Other than that, the most obscure genre I ever found was Doom Metal...yeah I know, I'm boring.

Not exactly a genre as such, there is the atonal dissonant musical "stylings" of the representive of Corwood Industries known as Jandek. In all honesty though, almost all of his "music" is quite difficult to listen to unironically. His mythology is a thousand times better than the music itself. This is a useful guide to the wonder of Jandek

Space Rock! Especially Hawkwind. I'm a huge fan of this band. "Warrior on the Edge of Time" is a really great starting point if you're interested in the genre. Strange stuff. It's basically a mixture of Hard Rock with Psychedelic Rock elements. So it creates a heavy, trippy sound. This album is from 1975, but it still holds up well today. Some really ethereal and dreamy keyboards in there. I like the vocalist too, I think he has a unique voice. I honestly can't think of any other people that sound quite like him. The last few minutes of this song (especially around the eight minute mark) sends shivers up my spine. "On the edge of time!" Ahh, they don't make music like this anymore. What's up with those lyrics though? Who knows! Drugs, too many drugs. This band had a pretty weird and dirty live show as well. Apparently some people would show up naked and fuck each other while tripping out at their concerts. So they wrote little spoken word pieces around that. This is a live recording snippet, lol. THERE WILL BE AN ACHE IN THE PELVIC REGION!Also, the original vinyl had a fold-out poster that turned into a shield when opened:

I'd reckon early Monster Magnet would fit in with your Space Rock @rush, although "officially" it's classed as stoner rock. Particularly this album:

Oh yeah, I forgot about Monster Magnet. They're in the same school of thought for sure, albeit more modern.

Here's an odd song from 1969. Some sort of nightmare experimental music:
