I dunno man, Dracula X: Rondo of Blood(Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo) for the PC Engine at number 10? That game is absolutely fantastic, rivaled only by SOTN in my opinion.
Also, what about Castlevania Chronicles for the PS1? That was a pretty awesome Castlevania game as well.

I didn't have much fun playing Rondo of Blood, most because the controls were a total pain in the ass. It was acceptable to have shitty control on NES, but on this game, enemies were much smarter (fuck that skeletons with perfect aim) and richter moved so slow that I was constantly getting killed by stupid shit
I never played this Castlevania Chronicles, but I'll try it someday

Harmony of dissonance was my introduction to the series and I liked it a lot.

This is my ranking:
1 - Dracula's Curse 2 - Super Castlevania IV 3 - Aria of Sorrow 4 - Castlevania 5 - Bloodlines 6 - Order of Ecclesia 7 - Portrait of Ruin 8 - Rondo of Blood 9 - Symphony of the Night 10 - Dawn of Sorrow 11 - Belmont's Revenge 12 - Harmony of Dissonance 13 - The Adventure ReBirth 14 - Legacy of Darkness 15 - Simon's Quest
A lot of this could shift around a bit and I find it hard to rank the Metroidvania stuff against the Classicvania stuff since they're so different but 3 is easily my favorite. I'm probably overrating Bloodlines for nostalgic reasons but it's one of the ones I play the most.
The DS games are all pretty close in quality and I could shift those around in almost any order depending on my mood. CoTM just misses the cut.

do Bloodstained games count? Curse of the Moon is the best, Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse style game out there. And Ritual of the Night is really amazing, too. i really like Dracula's Curse as the best classic style Castlevania. Bloodlines is excellent, too. as for the metroidvania style. Circle of the Moon Harmony of Dissonance Aria of Sorrow Symphony of the Night. In that order are my choice. I really like Circle of The Moon, even when its the weakest of the advance games. Do fan games count? Has anyone played the fan game Soul of Dracula? Excellent classic style game. Hard as hell. Another one that mixes metroidvania and dracula's curse style of branching paths is Castlevania: The Lecarde Chronicles. It also has a sequel. Both are amazing games!

Yeah, the Bloodstained stuff is really good - I love Curse of the Moon, which takes a lot of cues from Dracula's Curse. I haven't played the sequel yet but it's in my backlog of stuff to play.
I've never played those fan games, I'll have to check them out sometime.

1. Symphony of the Night (played it few times but the beginning of metroidvania castlevania style, more of a masterpiece and brilliant than later iterations imho) 2. Aria of Sorrow (high because of nostalgia and my first metroidvania style castlevania I played) 3. Super Castlevania IV (favorite non metroidvania, nostalgia of playing it in friend's SNES) 4. Order of Ecclesia (like the goth style of the chick) 5. The Dracula X Chronicles (Played on PSP a lot) 6. Portrait of Ruin 7. Dawn of Sorrow 8. Castlevania Bloodlines 9. Circle of the Moon 10. Harmony of Dissonance 11. Castlevania 3 12. Castlevania 1

I was hallucinating when I thought that Harmony of Dissonance, Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow and Rondo of Blood were worse than 64. They are definitely better.

Were you splattin' pies or something? ( archive.org/details/ycdtotv-unedited-eps/Drugs+(1981).mp4# Click #4 1981 Drugs episode. A different one plays at first even though it seems selected) You know Legacy of Darkness is basically an improved finished version of 64? Except some people don't like some level changes. The original two characters also have to be enabled. I only played a little of Legacy though. I've played through all but four 2D Cv (minus MSX, Arcade, never played the multiplayer online one or Amiga) but have yet to finish a 3D other than Judgment even though I own almost all of the series.

1. Pennsylvania Breakfast of the Night (until Governor Wolf's lockdowns made 24 hour diners a thing of the past) Castlevania Judgment for Wii, probably the most hated Castlevania and I will concede is the most bastardized one, is a better game than people give it credit for. It's a one on one 3D fighter with occasionally a big boss fight. Besides player vs player, it might possibly be 2 players vs a boss or maybe not. Can't quite remember. I just found it really good and fun in spite of its faults and so far played it more than any other 3D one. Obviously I wouldn't rank Judgment in the top 15 and some of its dialog is really embarrassing cringe. Of course since I finally got an actual PS2 a few years ago and also a PC capable of emulating them at full speed, I'll probably get into the PS2 games at same point. I want to finish Lords of Shadow sometime so I can move onto Mirror of Fate and then LOS2. Also here's my old Cv page cv.revora.net/Years ago, I beat this good Cv II Simon's Quest Remake (DL in description), except I couldn't find one or two items it changed up how to get: Here's two more CVII remakes/remixes and a Cv III in 8-bit style for PC. Got them all, but just played the CvIII so far and it's good. www.retrovideogames.store/start

Ranking the individual games would be a headache so I'll rank the different styles. 1 The oldvanias. Stuff like Rondo of Blood and Dracula's Curse are top tier games overall. 2 The igavanias. Symphony of the Night probably sits at the top but I haven't played much of the DS entries yet. 3 The 3D ones. This is "not in my Castlevania" territory for me. Don't intend to play more than the little I have of them. 4 Haunted Castle.
