Promising start dave, looking forward to seeing how you can finish this off! I clipped to check the off map area and that part in particular is looking great, I dig your use of curves. Try to add a window or two to the starry sky outside for extra atmosphere and setting, something like in Memfis' second screen on the previous page for example.

My thoughts on dave's wip: you may already be working on this, but in its current state it feels kind of drab. Mostly gloomy lighting, fairly linear path, plinking away at stuff in front of you. There are lots of cool room shapes that seem promising, but the environment needs a bit more "character." Lighting contrasts between rooms, moving sectors and monster closets that make the place feel more alive, decorations, monsters popping up in unexpected places, teasing item/areas you can't get to until later, etc. Depending on your process, you may already be planning to address some of this stuff eventually anyway, but it's worth thinking about at this point so you can build some of the character elements into the map organically.
There's a interesting environmental narrative here--starting in one station and going to another via some weird gooey alien tunnel. Think about playing that up, that could be a fun hook for the map.
The off-map area is pretty interesting, I almost feel like that could be its own map!
-- cyber radius reduced to 64 (from 72) -- upside-down floor lamp is now non-blocking -- new pistol, shotgun, chainsaw, rocket launcher, plasma graphics -- fixed missing sprites for the brain machine (baron) -- added a green TLITE flat -- lots of minor graphic/sound/animation polishing -- various tweaks to the demo maps
Nice to see these WIP shots, good looking stuff so far!

-- Cyber radius shrunk further to 48, should have an easier time getting around -- Arachnorb (Caco) HP reduced to 250. Fits the sprite better and is more in line with existing uses of the monster (at least glen made this argument ) -- Lost soul replacement HP reduced to 60. Helps the flesh muncher thingy feel squishier and avoid some of the typical lost soul annoyances
Let me know if you have any concerns! I've been trying to take the suggestions of mappers into consideration as people are settling into using these resources.
So I finally got around to finishing the main layout of my map, but it's still very empty and needs detailing and better texturing. I thinks it's probably going to be one of the weirder levels in the project since I'm going for that Tom Hall, 90's realism design, with offices, storage rooms and shit. I'm not good with abstract tech levels. We'll see how it turns out when it's done.
Station Desolation is really neat, probably my favorite map by glen so far. It's so consistently mean that you can't help but love it. Here is a quick demo. The ending made me realize that perhaps there is a problem with one of the custom graphics, see if you can spot it. It looks great too, I have no idea how you guys adapt to new resources so quickly (I still feel overwhelmed by the 1000+ new textures).

Alright folks, time to drop some maps--and not a moment too soon! How are things looking for others? (Especially thundercunt , nxgangrel , doomcuredave , memfis ). I know you guys can make it over the finish line!
Asleep at the Helm intro map that also has some environmental narrative stuff. Similar role as DBP09 MAP01 but there's a bit more combat focus this time around.
Galactic Stowaway Somewhat beefed up version of my second demo map, which finishes the basics of introducing the player to the AB bestiary and such
Station2Station (name pending) A good ol' three-keys-in-any-order map with an AB twist
Finally a new resource pack update, which you'll need for these maps since it has a few new narrative-boosting graphics: DBP13 resources v4 (mappers don't necessarily need to worry about this update, since it's unlikely you'd get much use out of the few new narrative-oriented resources)
