uhm, have you been living under a rock for the past 15 years? The world has become a much worse place exactly because people don't care to do anything and/or because they are ignorant. It's actually a big part of the reason I believe genetic determinism is real and that free will is a scam. How else can you explain that the vast majority doesn't appear to act in it's own best interest even when they have every reason in the world to do so? Only explanation I have is that apathy is a genetic trait and that people who don't have it are exceptions. Still justifying your existence with excuses HG? Take a look at your very own Icelandic football team, for decades minnows of the sport and a laughing stock. Slowly but surely they have taken the time, dedication and hard work to improve themselves to the point they are now competitive with the likes of Argentina in their very first World Cup. Your turn.

Apathy is death and genes do not overcome culture. Eh, this could use some more context and info I guess. I hope trying to put my two cents here wasn't a bad idea.

Nice knowing you! It’s not over yet though, still has to get through European Parliament. If I’m reading this correctly and if worse comes to worse, doesn’t this mean that people will just have to create their own original content and pay to use or link other peoples? Does this mean you now have to pay the publishers for the article that you just linked to hardcoregamer? Go on, pay up ya filthy Europirate! I’ll make it easy, give me that money for the link and I’ll make sure it gets delivered to the correct hands.

Greeaaat, now it's up to the European governments to save us, I'm sure they'll totally keep what the people want in mind when they realise how even more powerful governments would be over their people by NOT opposing this law. Why I'm suuuuure they're already planning to oppose it right now, I'm just wondering if it is before or after they shoot themselves in the foot for our benefit... Ha ha, it's not like the European/British government have been trying to control what people already think and how they act, or anything like that... Nooo why they're just looking out for us all, we can't be trusted with basic human rights, we're all criminals waiting to happen so let's just slowly remove rights one by one until we're behaving like aunty Theresa wants... Fuck, I just realised how doomed this was from the start, why did I even try to oppose this?I EDIT: you know, I'm really beginning to realise how retarded I was for being pro Brexit, I seem to forget who we actually have in the Prime Minister position and what they are doing... Thank fuck I didn't vote leave or I'd probably be actually drinking bleach right about now... How the fuck do you get a government that looks (and for all intensive purposes IS) worse than the EU parliament?

It's a stepping stone (or an attempt) to taking your country back in the hands of national sovereignty. Is it going to be implemented? Well, you see that's the uncertainty. The British "people" may have voted for it... but will your big ol' 1984-tier gubberment and master "EU" want to comply with the wishes of the people?

It feels strange that nobody talks about these laws in my country. And I'm sure that our politician slugs will approve this without hesitation. It sucks, that we will be cut out from the rest of world due this unfair law.

Oh, and Scotland didn't vote for it. Not that anyone fucking asks or cares. You wanna see how democracy is going to work in this glorious post-brexit wonderland, then bathe your eyes in this shit.

Mfw I'm laughing that this passes but nothing will actually change and we will still have our shitty memes and we eurofags will still be here. Mfw actually we will be locked from the rest of the world and I'll have to join guerrillas to fight EU parliamentarians on the Alps.
Premise that this is a retarded post and you shouldn't read it, from what I know this article 13 indeed sucks, article 11 sucks too but at least there's a decent intent of putting a brake to the big monopolies. These articles seems a bit vague too, I assume that they were written by people who have very little knowledge on the matter. Not even youtube is able to properly check copyrights nad
Idk how this will go in the future, the internet is a big business with lots of money involved, I expect the governments to try again for sure.
And last thing, why on articles about the internet at some point they'll almost always say "4chan's /pol/"... ffs stop to go to /pol/ they'are all trolling us, they'are all trolling you fuck just stop to go there and stop to quote it in your shitty articles you just look retarded.

That way, you can rejoin the federal dictatorship of the EU (which honestly, I would not want to be a part of, but if you want it, go right ahead).

Yeah, as opposed to the brutal federal dictatorship of the UK Tories. The EU at this point are just the diet/lite version of the god damned Tories... ...But that is the thing though, they're just the slightly less fucked up version, it's not much of a choice but I'd sure as hell take the probverbial long barbed cock of the EU up my arse rather than the thick long razor edged tentacle the Tories would use.

Still feels like a awfully specific/stupid thing, this all I mean.
Like, how do they plan to stop pirates? Do these copyright issues still come along with those who stream/record games? Wouldn't it be super easy to create a tool that just, I dunno, adds spaces into links so people could just delete the spaces and go towards an article or something? Also, even though I fucking hate memes and wish they could go away forever, but can they really go forward and remove drawings of memes?
I have a feeling that whatever this stupid shit is will just apply to some tabloid news sites, and that would be it. People ALWAYS find a way around something, and important news can always be conveyed somehow. Say, a underground news site that replaces names with fake ones and says what's happening or whatever, like: "In the Kingdom of Amerstates, Lord FrenchHorn has expressed his intense love for steamed hams", which could be translated by a glossary over to "In the United States, President Trump has expressed his intense love for steamed hams".
I also wanna add something thats a little bit offtopic, but might be linked towards yer precious news site: Every screenshot can be easily faked. This works both against and for the whole charade, so yeah.

I'm finding it difficult to picture independence whist the fucking tories are in the process of dismantling democracy in my country. Take a look through history. in regards to independence. Yeah, as opposed to the brutal federal dictatorship of the UK Tories. The EU at this point are just the diet/lite version of the god damned Tories... I'm not defending the Tories. Say what you want about them, but in regards to the EU: I don't understand how people are okay with having a centralized shadow gubberment dictate trade/economic policies, create absurd laws, and dictate immigration policies without having people from each country vote on it. That is insane.

That is insane. Yeah, the EU is undeniably terrible in both theory and practice and I'd love for nothing more than freedom from it but as of right now the only option of "freedom" from the EU is actually the worse alternative. It blows, really, we either have to accept the "evil" of the EU or face the "true evil" of our government (which the EU has blocked many barbaric laws attempted to be enforced in my country already, only to then add remarkably less insufferable versions of said law, as I said Tory Lite).

I'm so glad to be wrong about this...
... I hope.
Maybe I shouldn't be such an over-dramatic loser over things like this in the future.

This is a victory for now, but for how long? The EU has a history of just spamming elections until they get what they want.
EDIT: Oh uh, looks like we were all celebrating too quickly: juliareda.eu/eu-copyright-reform/"Next, the entire Parliament will vote on July 5, 2018 whether to rubber-stamp the committee’s result. If it doesn’t, the debate is re-opened, and there is one more chance to make changes to the proposals at the next plenary meeting in September.
After closed-door compromise negotiations between the institutions, the Parliament will have to approve the result one final time."This hasn't actually been rejected, they will merely alter the law and then vote on it again in a couple of months. Considering that the law just barely got rejected this time it seems unlikely they won't be able to get it to pass with a small tweak. Well the feelings of happiness were nice while they lasted
