I didn't want to, but I saw this coming. Trump's sheer ego would never allow him to be too diplomatic for too long. They knew what they were doing would make NK instantly hostile again and did it anyway, I guess they feared that if they weren't total insufferable cunts they would appear "weak". Not wanting to appear "weak" has been the fucking Achilles heel of America more than once. Who needs peaceful progress and mutual compromise when you can be loud-mouthed, chest-pounding and egotistical, though? I mean, come on guys, don't you see that this is just another "million-D chess move"?! WAKE UP you libtard sheeple!

Trump sent them a letter stating the political equivalent of MY DICK IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN YOURS, PRAY I DON'T USE IT ON YOUR TINY CINNAMON STARFISH. It was the right thing to say. Yeah when I saw this on the news I was like "Dammit Donald, you goddamn idiot" Can't believe he bitched out like that. I didn't want to, but I saw this coming. I mean, come on guys, don't you see that this is just another "million-D chess move"?! WAKE UP you libtard sheeple! When negotiating with foreign leaders, you can't go into a negotiation appearing weak and subjugated. You think any strong leader is going to happily attend a summit with a foreign leader after his Second In Command got insulted by that foreign leader? Hell no. Never approach a negotiation subjugated, apologetic, or a brown nosed .... Under no circumstances. If you're going in subjugated, you're enemy is going to crush you. The nature of Asian politics is drastically different from Western politics. Asian politics/culture (particularity East Asian) is cutthroat. You have to be direct and assertive with these people. Don't bullshit them with patronizing crap knowing that the guy fucking insulted your Second In Command leader. You will NOT be respected in Asian cultures after disregarding that. You're going to get ZERO respect from Asian leaders (Moon Jae-In, Xi Jinping, or Shinzo Abe, etc..) Cultures are not all the same. Kim Jong Un is not a fucking Justin Trudeau. I give a a couple of months until a new summit is scheduled. Good thing they don't hand out those stupid Peace Prize medals like candy. Apparently they do because they gave it to this jackass who ironically pushed for more war and bloodshed in various middle eastern shithole countries.

Not to mention that Korea flaked on a previous meeting with those diplomats...I can't blame Trump for calling off this meeting. At least he informed Kim about it instead of just not showing up. This move was Trump saying, "I'm not playing your games. We can try to be friends or we can destroy you. Pick one."
Of course this is disappointing, but I like how he's handling it.

Yeah, or the other option...extend the olive branch to a leader who only offers his middle finger, making us look like the world's lapdog again.
I like the other idea better.

Don't show weakness to pussy dictators who have no more bargaining chips. North Korea's war making abilities have literally blown up in Kim's face. He's a no threat looking to save some face or holding out for some concessions, so Trump should treat him as such. If Kim wants to work SK without Trump, so be it. EDIT: Oh look, talks are back on. I guess not backing down to a man baby worked.

Man baby vs. Man baby, now on Pay-Per-View. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Trump is just as unstable as Kim. No confidence isn't even a strong enough term.

Does where he live actually matter Trace?
I keep saying it’s all a work, why get so invested in this tragical bullshit? One day politics will actually matter again. Today is not that day. Be good to your fellow brother or sister and call a cunt a cunt, that’s all the power we have.

I'm happy your team won miano, but what was actually accomplished besides some photo ops? What was on the document that they signed? I imagine Kim's demands were something like "Donald is going to have me over for a barbecue and beers with my pal Dennis while we watch some sport and he will be my new best friend." It was a good show though I admit, Trump has learned a lot about optics from his pal Vince McMahon.

It was a good show though I admit, Trump has learned a lot about optics from his pal Vince McMahon. What was done: 1) Halting of war games in the Korean Peninsula. 2) Release of American prisoners from NK. 3) Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un signed a join document for denuclearization in the Korean Peninsula. 4) Serious talks of potential economic trade by removing economic sanctions against NK (at the moment sanctions are still in place, but Trump stated that he will happily seek to remove them if all goes well with denuclearization agreements/actions). I'd say a lot was done besides photo ops. Kim's quote: "We had a historic meeting, and decided to leave the past behind, and we're about to sign a historic document. The world will see a major change. I would like to express my gratitude to President Trump to make this meeting happen" We'll be receiving the contents of the signed document shortly after the summit.

Precisely. The details of the meeting or any solid plans to achieve such goals are vague or non-existent at best, with little concrete to go on except the predication of removal of US joint operations with South Korea. This only makes sense if the threat in North Korea is already gone, such as with the widely accepted notion that NK destroyed it own weapons program by total accident.

Hey, remember that other sitting U.S. President that went and met with a North Korean leader? Oh wait, that never happened.
Or how about that time when everyone was certain that the Trump-Kim summit was never going to happen, and then it did?
Now the big gripe is "Okay, we were wrong, but it definitely won't mean anything."
Yeah, till it does. Still sipping this tall glass of Toldyaso. It still tastes so sweet. I really hope I don't end up spilling it on myself.

Still sipping this tall glass of Toldyaso. It still tastes so sweet. I really hope I don't end up spilling it on myself. You can keep patting yourself on the back for the sun coming up today, I'll keep reminding myself I'm talking to someone who's only knowledge of the world stage probably boils down to where certain beers come from. Only a few months ago Kim was 'little rocket man' vying for power against the unstoppable United States. Now Trump looks at him fondly as if he's his new pet chimp. Heaping praise on him as a smart man, and a good leader who cares about his people. A good leader who just happens to murder his own family, send dissenting generals to firing squads or feeds them to dogs, and starves half his populace while keeping them poor, ignorant and cut off from the rest of the world. Which version of Trump is true this time? Everything Trump says and does in in service of his vanity and his ego. Kim is clever enough to know this, I mean the man isn't fooling anyone (well, almost anyone). What better play on a President who thinks he's completely infallible? This summit, as benign as it was, is just another way of Trump making himself look good. Smile for the camera, shake Kim's hand, give the world an appearance of a deal so no one questions what is actually on the table. Who cares if it's at the expense of relations with long-time allies like South Korea. Right on the heels of the laughable G-7 meeting where once again Trump lamented that his buddy Putin wasn't around. So NK signs a pact with no clear path to denuclearizing...something they never should have been doing in the first place. Every treaty made with NK to dismantle or cease development of it's nuclear program has been broken in the last 30 years. What's the bargaining chip this time? I don't see one. It must be Trump's amazing power of persuasion! Only a naive idiot would believe that. For the record, the pact never states anything about denuclearizing, only the prospect of more diplomacy. For that we remove all military operations from South Korea? What a bargain. He claims SK isn't pulling it's share for the 'war games'. Canada is giving us a raw deal. But trade with NK? Well that's a sure bet, that's where the big money is. Suddenly our allies are suspect and our enemies are new friends. If you ask me, someone else is pulling the strings around here.

Well that's a sure bet, that's where the big money is. Suddenly our allies are suspect and our enemies are new friends. If you ask me, someone else is pulling the strings around here. Keep talking. I'm starting to get turned on. I will try to address all of the (what I presumed to be) the key points made in your retort. 1. With regard to your amusing beer comment: I'd prefer if we not sling insulting assumptions or comments at each other here like they do on doomworld, man. I think we are both better than that. Besides, I just like to drink beer; I couldn't tell you where it all came from (unless my fridge is an acceptable answer) 2. (Little Rocket Man snip) You missed the part where Trump heavy handedly backed out of the summit initially (something you and everyone else bashed him for), which was behavior that now seems to coincide with what you would apparently have preferred. But hey, you have a right to disagree with him whenever you want to...just seems a little inconsistent to me that you were pissed when he was hard on Kim and cancelled the Summit, and now that he is treating him nicer and went to the summit you still aren't happy. 3. (Trumps praises to Kim) Kim Jong Un is a sociopath, I think we can all generally agree on that. Know how to manipulate a sociopath? Flatter the fuck out of them. Sun Tzu shit, man. Keep them close, let them feel safe, then at the perfect time, make your move. 4. (No clear path to denuclearizing) Sorry, but do you really think tbat something as substantial as removing a large part of a nations' arsenal is something that would happen as a result of a single meeting? Don't call people delusional. The fact that a friendlt face to face happened between North Korea and The United States is a step in a good direction no matter how you spin it. Unless you preferred the reclusive North Korea that would not talk to us. 5. Bargaining chip? I think Trump made it clear in his letter. (Not verbatim) "We are more powerful than you, remember that." There's your chip, try it with the Toldyaso dip. Delicious.

1. Fair enough, though I was being toned down from my usual repertoire, haha.
2. I was more critical of the way the summit exit was handled. Maino's (Grug?) insight into Asian political strategies was a convincing argument though. Weather it occurs or not, we're not clued in as to why exactly these things are happening. Real peace? Trump as another pawn in Kim's scheme? I'll pick door number 3.
3. Sociopath, yes two of a kind. But who's playing who? My money is on Kim.
4. No I don't think that a single meeting will end escalation. And I've said it before. I may not like him, but Trump is the President of my country I happen to hold in high regard. I ultimately want him to succeed, and I want Korea to be peaceful and united again.
5. I know what you're implying but sorry this would never happen. Sabre rattle all you want, NK are allies with Russia and China. We may talk big shit, but not against both of them, not any fuckin' day of the week.

With how dependent the Chinese are on our import market, I highly doubt they would allow us to be destroyed. That would dismantle their infrastructure and end up hurting them worse than our weapons could have in the long run anyway. With Russia being allies of China, I'm convinced they'll do whatever China wants to do.
Imagine the damage done to the global market if The U.S. and China went to war; too many hands in that cookie jar for a war to look like a good idea to anybody. Furthermore, China's economy would be one of the greatest casualties of that war given their dependence on foreign buyers. No fucking way would they want that to happen.
