 I'm kind of annoyed to post betas here, but it's news I guess(!) Dimension of the Boomed is a short Boom mapset created by Urthar that's pretty heavily and obviously influenced by Quake. The original three map demo was released about 16 months ago, but today Urthar released five more maps for a 7-map episode (plus a hub map.) The maps are currently in beta, which means they are subject to change. Urthar is a beast of a mapper, so I can't wait to give this a whirl. You guys should too! Edited post with the most recent link to beta 4.
I made it to MAP04 Necropolis so far, but I keep dying a lot. Urthar has a way with sectors that really blows my mind. It's really detailed but still looks and smells like quake. It's pretty remarkable, but its tough to play. Some traps are pretty tough and catch you off guard, but the eye candy more than makes up for it. I hope I can get through this one before I try the next couple maps.

I agree with both of you. So far, I've played through the first map and looked around a little on the others, and it looks and plays great, especially with Doom Retro (because of the darker aesthetic). I'm not convinced by the Scrags however. The imp fireball sure looks out of place, coming from their tail, but then again - the mapset isn't finished yet.

Yeah I'm not really feeling the scrags either. The sprite offsets are weird (i think) and they don't really fill any necessary gameplay niches that a cacodemon wouldn't fit.
