Holy shit Justince and Contra's back and forth is entertaining shit, please keep it up both of you A thread like this would have been shut down instantly on DW, and both sides walking away pissed. Instead sure, things got heated, but as adults we realize people have the right to fucking disagree. I'm sure Contra knows I respect his opinion and learned a lot from his posts, and we're quite capable of carrying on in a discussion even if it gets a little over the top.

This might be me being dumb and green, but I still don't understand what was so entertaining with this "debate"? If anything, it sounded more like useless spam. Not aiming at the debateers, you guys are probably cool, but what you spent time on with this... eeeeeeeehhhhhh.
Also never understood how do Doomworldians find these arguments entertaining either. I swear for every gif of Michael Jackson eating popcorn I had seen, if I got a dollar for seeing one, I would... probably have a lot of dollars. Didn't say I would be "rich" because I stopped reading threads like these altogether. There is something so repulsive to me in seeing people enjoying this kind of content. I mean, I had seen people enjoy a variety of stuff, but I have this feeling that just because there are a lot of people who enjoy this kind of stuff, that whatever I dare to post is going to be twisted and turned for-no-reason-and-out-of-the-blue just to generate the ever "loved" conflict.
Me too sents.

I for one encourage debate because it is good and is proof of freedom! I do agree on having disdain for those popcorn reactions though. (I also haven't really read the debate)

Arguing is addictive. It's almost mechanical -- identifying the flaws in the opponent's defence and coming up with the right counterarguments. It can be fun.
IMO when the argument devolves to the real stupid things, it's either because the arguers are: a) GODDAMN AUTISTIC LOL; b) ENJOYING THE PROCESS A BIT TOO MUCH.

Without healthy debate, or even sometimes unhealthy debate, things are not resolved and people never question their biases. I applaud Contra's faith in our system, I'm happy to know he isn't some blind follower. I also want a strong Presidency which in turn makes a strong country. Do I think Trump is the man to do this? No, but there's always part of me that wants him to be that person.

^ and that is why im leaving the US once i am able to It's not exactly all ice cream and lollipops in other countries either, bro. The US has its problems, no doubt, but be sure you know what you're getting into before you make a move to another land. off course, that goes for anyplace

This might be me being dumb and green Nah it doesn't strike me as dumb, but it does strike me more of being green and of laziness because understanding requires effort on your part.. I like debate where the topic stays on the forefront because as part of the audience you can actually learn from it when it doesn't get devolve into shrill screeching. Even though not everyone shows it, a lot of arguments revolving around politics is because on a deeper level a lot of people care. I only really cared for it when I started seeing horrific images of farm murders and photos depicting the aftermath of girls getting mutilated, given "smileys" and raped infront of their parents then getting hung upside down while the husband now has to watch this happen to his wife (unable to move because the bones in his hands, legs and his fingers have been broken and crushed with a hammer) because they're not the same colour as their murderers.. then seeing a black lady wearing a beret shouting about freedom (because farms in the middle of nowhere with acres of land were used to show how disproportionate land ownership is, I mean fucking hell; a medium income farm vs multiple billion dollar mansions can still be disproportionate on paper) and "fact checking" sites reporting the murders as "payment disputes".. it helps being versed in the environment and politics that surrounds it before just being an activist who only sees symptoms on a surface level otherwise you might direct your "activism" against the wrong people. If you actually want to find a cure for any symptom (in my case; the symptom being the farm murders, the lady with the berett and partially even the skin colour of the murderers/victims) you'd have to identify what exactly it's a symptom of, and in identifying the root cause you might actually unravel an even greater disaster looming on the horizon. Even if you don't have an interest in politics, politics has an interest in you (I shamelessly stole this saying, btw). Justince and Contra are both Americans that obviously care about their country's long term future even if they might not agree on the same methods and legislation to keep said future from being an authoritarian dystopia.. and it's awesome seeing a debate where both people focus more on the conclusion than being "right" or pwning their enemy because they know they're in this together. Either way, no offence but if you get worked up by debates why do you read them? I don't lurk on "Rational" Wiki's bad faith articles to find things to disagree with.. Holy shit Justince and Contra's back and forth is entertaining shit, please keep it up both of you You're both fucking golden, rofl Haha, even if I was on the opposite end of Justince's remark I'd have a hard time not laughing at it and if anyone reads it without being a triggered retard it just reads as drinking koolaid or putting your head in the sand because "your guy" is in office.. it's something Obama supporters did when "their guy" was in office and is something that some Trump supporters are doing because "their guy" is in office, if both sides held their candidate's feet to the fire during his term there'd have been so much shit (and even destabilizations of countries) that would have been avoided. Anyway, I'd just build the wall around California, but that's just me..
