I really wonder sometimes just why does this keep happening, and why so often. Is no one capable of finding the root cause, or do they just don't care enough to do it? Facts that we know: >Kid targeted a person he already knew and was in a previous relationship with. This was premeditated and probably something personal between them. Not a random lunatic shooting up a crowd. >A school security officer stopped the kid, which most likely saved lives. >The kid did not purchase the firearm. Most likely stole it. Why does this happen? Here are some reason: 1) School (specifically public school) is a toxic environment filled with shitty people. 2) Some kids have shitty upbringing. 3) Some kids have psychatric issues that are triggered by the environment they are in. I read a book many years ago called "Why Kids Kill: Inside the Minds of School Shooters" by Peter Langman. I used it for reference for a paper on the topic of school shootings back in college (I wish I still kept a copy of it, but it got deleted off my hard drive shortly after I graduated... I regret not saving a copy of it, but oh well). What I recall from his studies is that there is a "three-part typology" to school shooters: psychopathic, psychotic, or traumatized. Although he didn't emphasize this, but I strongly believe that the environment one person is in can trigger violent behaviors/actions in kids that fall under any of these three categories.

Yeah, no doubt about this, hardship and traumatizing events can have devastating effects upon one's psyche, so due to being unable to stand it anymore they end up resorting to extreme measures just to end the suffering, thinking they do themselves justice when it's instead a huge disservice. I'd be a bad liar if I said I don't sympathize with these particular shooters who suffered at the hands of others... There are other (better) options, and yet they sometimes seem to lead nowhere, changing nothing... Hmph, kinda reminds me of the 8yrs I spent in school, being surrounded by assholes/toxic kids with an ego bigger than the entire cosmos on a daily basis. Glad I buried those distant memories and severely distanced myself from them right after this stage has ended, not regretting one bit (there's nothing to regret even if I wanted to... ). I barely have any pleasant memories from school, and those that I do, on an overwhelming percentage of 95 or so don't involve them, at all. Up until 11th grade in high school I barely ran into nice people in this kind of environment, and all I've been through did little more than bring my faith and trust into people down to almost 0. And this is not limited just to school, I usually seem to have a really hard time meeting quality people, those that seem ok most of the time look so only on a surface level, and when you need them the most they're never there for you, being completely unreliable. Or are that kind of persons who would shake your hand and stab you in the back at the same time... and those are plenty... This made bonding with people a nigh impossible task for me, it's true what they say, experiences do shape and change you. In consequence, I barely have any interest in interacting with humans. Now back to schools, after what I've seen with my own eyes and after reading some (up to date) studies on our schools out of curiosity recently, looks like over 55% of the kids consider violence an ever-present danger and find the environment hostile towards them. Just tells you in what kind of environment they need to survive every day... And younger generations being increasingly more driven by ego and dumb will only make matters worse. Then people wonder why so many kids end up anti-social or develop severe social anxiety...

I went to a high school that had a graduating class of nearly 4,000. A lot more good and decent people than there were crazy lunatics. But with a sample size that huge, it's gotta be scary being a student today and not knowing who's gonna snap.

Then people wonder why so many kids end up anti-social or develop severe social anxiety... I went to a relatively small High School with a graduating class of 254 students. My school was (probably still "is") notorious for bullying. Unfortunately I got the shit end of the stick mostly during my freshman and sophomore years.... middle school was pretty shitty too). We even made the news quite a few times for instances of harassment. Needless to say, the bullying mostly came from the jocks and other preppy assholes with egos bigger than Mt. Rushmore. Few instances of bullying from my High School that I witnessed: 1) This kid was bullied on a daily basis because he was shy, short, and had learning disabilities. He got expelled because he threatened his antagonizers with a hitlist. Although I don't condone his actions, I still felt bad for the kid because he had it worse than me. 2) An asshole jock humiliated a girl in the cafeteria by pulling down her pants in front of everybody. 3) A kid on my wrestling team was stripped ass naked outside on the track in front of the track team (mostly consisted of girls). Some various things: 1) Jocks and preppy douchebags would purposely push students in hallways just to assert dominance. 2) Jocks would throw food from across the cafeteria at people just for fun. 3) Assholes would pretend to be people's friends and then psychologically abuse the shit out of them. A lot of the bullying at my school was psychological. My school was LOADED of narcissists. Even the girls were nasty cunts. I can only imagine how much worse it is with gen z. It sucked being thrown into that environment for years. It's like a prison mentality (who's the top dog, the toughest, and most feared. What clique do you belong too, etc...). Everyone had to prove who was more dominant and popular. Here's some more harassment that happened before I was enrolled:
1) 1989: Football team hazed freshmen by forcing them to take off their clothes and play naked twisted. The dumbasses though it would be a good idea to video tape the incident. As a result, 85 members of the football team were ordered to undergo mental health counseling. 2) 1997: Some hazing shit with the soccer team. Resulted in police intervention. 3) 2005: A lesbian student was thrown down the stairs and broke her ankle. The school got sued for failing to act on her complaints of frequent harassment. I'm glad I'm not in high school anymore. What a toxic environment and horrible memories. Shit, I don't even think I would want to attend my 10 year re-union, which is coming up in a few years.

Damn, so that place was a mess in your case. Not surprised, and consider this was a different generation, I'm almost afraid of thinking what's going on nowadays, but then not like I even want to really know. Schools are no longer a pleasant environment, it's a jungle in which you have to survive, and their real purpose is buried deep by fights for dominance, violence, harassment, braindead pranks and jokes, and other bs. Failing to take action on repeated complaints is just inexcusable, this usually means the heads are not doing their job in short, either because they're incompetent, or just don't care. I remember a 2yrs old case when a girl (or was it boy? It's irrelevant) repeatedly complained about being harrassed but the teachers and the heads did NOT TAKE HER SERIOUSLY, probably thinking "it's nothing, it happens to everyone"... To everyone's surprise, the victim committed suicide shortly afterwards, and everyone, including the classmates, underwent police investigation. And I also know for a fact that our government and politicians give zero fucks about education whatsoever, I saw a 2017 report recently saying we were among the worst investors in education IN THE WORLD. Supposedly even Congo invested more... It doesn't look to be THAT bad in practice tbh, but it's still terrible. Decades old manuals combined with outmoded and inefficient methods of teaching (and teachers are often shit, no less), lots of disciplines that are plain useless, literally far too much to learn in some of their cases, and making the final exams (including the baccalaureat) worse every damn year. I checked yesterday what did the pupils get this year at the mock exams and... well they weren't difficult, but jeez whoever made the subjects needs to be fired and replaced asap, it was a frustrating, unorganized mess to look at. I should also mention that, ironically, the final exams you need to take here in 8th grade are much more difficult than the baccalaureat, or so is the case of the romanian exam anyway. This is because you learn A SHITLOAD of grammar, syntax, and so on during school, just a lot. And what do you do in high school, or how does any of this help you there? Simple, it doesn't at all, because in high school you study LITERATURE, which is a joke in comparison, analysing literary operas, that's all you ever do... 'bout reunions, my last 2yrs in high school were pretty nice honestly, by far the only good period of all my years in school, so I'm likely going to attent the 10 year reunion. I just don't know how well my life will look by that time. In a few words, my life right now is clouded in uncertainty, and the future doesn't look very bright...

Damn, so that place was a mess in your case. The school was known for it's good academics, but it had A LOT of shitty people. I had some friends from neighboring towns, and they told me that their high schools were worse than mine. Some of the things they told me were beyond fucked up. Schools are no longer a pleasant environment, it's a jungle in which you have to survive, and their real purpose is buried deep by fights for dominance, violence, harassment, braindead pranks and jokes, and other bs. Yep it's a jungle alright. In all honestly, I would rather have been home schooled then forced into public school. I will admit my last 2 years of high school were a bit better than the first two, but I don't know if I really want to bump into all the people that made my adolescence miserable.

Well in this case, if you didn't get along with your colleagues and only the last few years were decent, then don't attend the reunion. Reminds me of a meeting my former colleagues from school organized a few months ago, of course I didn't attend it, we couldn't stand each other for the entire period of school and now they want to see each other again, LOL. Yeah, not on my watch.

Seriously.. The thugs had blunt force weapons, btw.. which exist to get an advantage over an unarmed outnumbered old man (see how this "advantage" thing works?). I'm sorry for your loss, but seriously; you could have prevented this by teaching your kids morals, it'd save you the outrage and sadness of the aftermath if they die by the sword they use to damage lively hoods and inflict pain, misery and even death onto other people. Don't leave their fate in the hands of the person they're trespassing against. Saw this, the mass demonetization Youtube started enforcing on their users (except for their preferential #1 content creators like Paul brothers that upload poorly edited lazy garbage, ofcourse.. who can even upload footage of a dead body and get away with it) was bound to push someone suffering from other problems over the edge.. it's a sad story all round, really. Youtube gained a foothold by providing good services, but now that they're a monopoly there's nowhere left for these people to turn to. She seemed like an eccentric who legitimately had a breakdown as opposed to an ego maniac who wanted to go down in a haze of glory, dunno.. I guess this might just be me being an armchair psychologist, though. It doesn't really form part of the gun topic, though.. or atleast it can't be covered from the same angle of the other shootings since the Leftists want to regulate assault rifles first.. they also couldn't use it to demonize anyone (rofl and they tried, btw.. before any info was known the verified Twitter accounts reminded me why I hate the platform with their preemptive accusing white men, terf feminists even tried to paint the woman as a trans haha). Either way, I'm really happy all the employees are ok, they aren't responsible for how the people at the top floor run the show or for Youtube's heavy handed partisan censoring and policy changes.
